China Admits To Harvesting & Testing COVID-19-Like Coronaviruses At Wuhan Lab

Obama’s NIH paid the Chinese weapons lab $3.7 million to conduct SARS-Coronavirus research

Documents obtained by the Daily Mail confirm that Communist China had been harvesting, developing, and testing novel coronaviruses on mammals using grant money from the U.S. government under former President Obama.

For months China had been claiming the coronavirus now known as COVID-19 originated from a wet market in Wuhan, but evidence shows that the Institute of Virology in Wuhan undertook coronavirus experiments on mammals, including bats, backed by grants from the National Institute of Health.

The results of the NIH-backed research were published in a 2017 study called “Discovery of a rich gene pool of bat SARS-related coronaviruses provides new insights into the origin of SARS coronavirus.”

“Bats in a cave in Yunnan, China were captured and sampled for coronaviruses used for lab experiments,” the study said.

“All sampling procedures were performed by veterinarians with approval from the Animal Ethics Committee of the Wuhan Institute of Virology.”

“Bat samplings were conducted ten times from April 2011 to October 2015 at different seasons in their natural habitat at a single location (cave) in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China. Bats were trapped and fecal swab samples were collected.”

“Herein, we report the identification of a diverse group of bat SARSr-CoVs in a single cave in Yunnan, China. Importantly, all of the building blocks of SARS-CoV genome, including the highly variable S gene, ORF8 and ORF3, could be found in the genomes of different SARSr-CoV strains from this single location.”

Additionally, Indian researchers scanned the novel coronavirus genome and found unique cell identification and membrane binding proteins located in the HIV genome, suggesting the 2019-nCov is a laboratory-made chimera, but withdrew their findings after receiving pressure from China.

A 2015 article from The Scientist describes the concerns scientists had with creating a coronavirus chimera out of a lab, which resulted in a moratorium on gain-of-function coronavirus research in the U.S.

“The only impact of this work is the creation, in a lab, of a new, non-natural risk,” biodefense expert and biologist Richard Ebright said.

This may explain why in 2015, the Obama administration and the National Institute of Health under Dr. Anthony Fauci outsourced to the Wuhan Virology lab by awarding them $3.7 million in research grants for scientific gain-of-function coronavirus experimentation on bats.
It also coincides with the fact that Bill Gates ran a coronavirus pandemic simulation in October, called Event 201, which resulted in a death toll of 65 million people over 18 months.

The exercise concluded that vaccines and global government are the only solutions to the pandemic.

And remember that Dr. Fauci warned in 2017 that President Trump would likely face a deadly “surprise outbreak” during his presidency.

Congressman Matt Gaetz expressed his “disgust” upon learning the U.S. government’s role in China’s coronavirus research.

“I’m disgusted to learn that for years the US government has been funding dangerous and cruel animal experiments at the Wuhan Institute, which may have contributed to the global spread of coronavirus, and research at other labs in China that have virtually no oversight from US authorities,” Gaetz said Sunday.

Bioweapons expert Dr. Francis Boyle confirmed most of these points in an interview on The Alex Jones Show last month, arguing that the likelihood of the novel coronavirus outbreak originating from a biolab in Wuhan, China, was extremely high, also warning that COVID-19 was probably a bioweapon leaked from that lab.

The novel coronavirus outbreak that’s resulted in a global pandemic, over 110,000 dead, and the economic devastation of the United States came from a Wuhan laboratory funded by the NIH, the organization whose director, Fauci, is spearheading the U.S. response to the coronavirus his institute helped fund.

The individuals and institutions who helped China develop its coronavirus gain-of-function research are the same people telling us to stay locked in our homes, prepare for mandatory vaccines and implantable microchips, and accept a national ID “immunity” card to participate in society.

Following the publication of this article, the Daily Mail revised their headline in a way that shifts blame from China to the U.S., framing the story as though the U.S. was ultimately responsible for releasing the coronavirus upon the world.

There is no evidence the coronavirus was engineered. But that's not saying it didn't come from that lab that was studying the virus in bats. And the State Department even warned of safety issues at that Wuhan lab.

No real evidence, no, no, and no. A PhD from Johns Hopkins has said that, if it was an engineered virus, they chose an awfully dumb way to do it. And Trump is our best president since Reagan and, in at least one way, better. That doesn't mean I have to like him.

If we had evidence it was a weapon, that's not something we or anyone else could keep secret. Every molecular biology lab in the world is looking at that virus right now, and someone would be telling Fox News, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, the Paris Match, the New York Times, the New York Post, the Wall Street Journal... Well, you get the picture. By now, some whistleblower somewhere would be living in his castle in Spain with a huge pension. Not even the Washington Post could spike that story, and President Trump would darn sure be talking about it.

Moreover, the CIA and every other spy agency in the whole world has been collecting Chinese bats and snakes, looking for that virus where it came from. If it's any different than the virus we have now, we'd be hearing about it.

And, if it were a weapon, it's a remarkably poor one. I've seen one estimate that, for every reported case of coronavirus, there are probably fifteen others out there where the people are NO symptoms. That's not a very good weapon.

Mind you, I'm not saying the Chinese DIDN'T make a weapon out of it. I'm just saying I haven't seen any really compelling evidence that they did.

The Pentagon is investigating the possibility that the deadly coronavirus, which is now killing thousands of Americans every day, came from the biological research laboratory in Wuhan.

Defense One editor Kevin Baron, announced that Gen. Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has confirmed that the DoD is looking into the theory that the virus was leaked out of the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV).

Those words are going to fuel a lifetime of additional conspiracy theories and speculation. But the tone of his voice was pretty dismissive of the idea, and he stressed that they’ve looked hard. “Hard.” And “the weight of evidence leans towards natural.”

“There’s a lot of rumor and speculation in a wide variety of media, blog sites, etc.,” said Milley, adding “It should be no surprise to you that we have taken a keen interest in that, and we have had a lot of intelligence take a hard look at that.”

“At this point it’s inconclusive, although the weight of evidence seems to indicate natural, but we do not know for sure,” Milley added.

In a separate interview Tuesday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was also asked about the notion of the virus leaking from the lab, and did not rule out the possibility.

Pompeo was asked by Tony Katz of The Morning News “Does the State Department believe that China absolutely purposefully engaged a virus, or is there a belief that there was a leak from a virology lab in Wuhan, and China did not let the world know about it until it was too late?”

Pompeo responded “Look, there’s still lots of work to be done to find out precisely what happened here, precisely how this came to be. We know this much: We know this is a global pandemic that originated in Wuhan, China. We know that there were wet markets there. So we’re beginning to piece the facts together.”

The developments dovetail with a report in the Washington Post Tuesday detailing how U.S. Embassy officials in China visited the Wuhan Institute of Virology in 2018 and subsequently issued official warnings to the State Department about the inadequate safety at the lab, where researchers were meddling with bat coronaviruses.

In addition, Documents obtained by the Daily Mail last week confirm that Communist China had been harvesting, developing, and testing novel coronaviruses on mammals using grant money from the U.S. government under former President Obama.

“There’ll become a time to review precisely what happened, to investigate, get all the facts, and hold accountable those who were responsible for this enormous, not only loss in human life but the economic damage that’s been done here in the United States as well.” Pompeo added.

The Secretary also declared that the Chinese government has “simply not lived up to their obligations to the international organizations.”

To be clear, there is a general consensus among experts and government officials in both the U.S. and Britain, that the lab in Wuhan could be the source of an accidental leak of the virus due to its lax safety procedures.

Richard H. Ebright, a professor of chemical biology at Rutgers University, told The Daily Caller that he believes it is a distinct possibility that an accident in the laboratory in China could have caused the outbreak.

Lawrence Sellin Ph.D., a retired colonel with 29 years of service in the U.S. Army Reserve, who previously worked at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, has also said that the origin of the virus is more likely to be a lab leak, arguing that “the technology to create a coronavirus chimera has been demonstrated,” and “deadly viruses have previously ‘leaked’ out of Chinese virology labs in two separate incidents.”

That is not to say that they believe it was a bio-weapon that was intentionally used by China, another wilder theory that has been promoted by the likes of bioweapons researcher Dr. Francis Boyle.

The accidental leak theory is also supported by the fact that according to a study contributed to by the ‘bat-woman’ herself, Shi Zhengli, the novel coronavirus is 96.2% identical to a viral strain that was detected in horseshoe bats from the Yunnan Province, which is over 600 miles away from Wuhan.

Separate Chinese research confirmed this and cited testimonies from close to 60 people who lived or stayed in Wuhan for lengthy periods, saying that the bat “was never a food source in the city, and no bat was traded in the market.”

The research paper, which was uploaded to Research Gate on Feb. 6, concluded that “The killer coronavirus probably originated from a laboratory in Wuhan.”

The paper was removed from Research Gate on Feb. 14 or 15, according to internet archives, and it’s author cannot be reached.

A deadly virus leak from a Chinese lab is not unprecedented. The SARS virus escaped twice from the Chinese Institute of Virology in Beijing in 2004, one year after its spread was brought under control.

Many believe that China’s continued subterfuge regarding the coronavirus outbreak, and it’s bizarre accusations that it was spread by the US military, is an effort to divert attention from the possibility that this virus leaked from the Wuhan lab.

As the mainstream media and politicians begin to raise/admit the possibilities that the source of COVID-19 was likely a lab in Wuhan (accidentally leaked or otherwise) – something we first brought to the world’s attention in January before being mocked, censored, and chastised – it appears more actual ‘scientists’ (at least those not paid by or working for a lab in Wuhan) are willing to admit what we noted all along – this virus is man-made.

GilmoreHealth.com’s Robert Miller writes that contrary to the narrative that is being pushed by the mainstream that the COVID 19 virus was the result of a natural mutation and that it was transmitted to humans from bats via pangolins, Dr Luc Montagnier the man who discovered the HIV virus back in 1983 disagrees and is saying that the virus was man made.

Professor Luc Montagnier, 2008 Nobel Prize winner for Medicine, claims that SARS-CoV-2 is a manipulated virus that was accidentally released from a laboratory in Wuhan, China. Chinese researchers are said to have used coronaviruses in their work to develop an AIDS vaccine. HIV DNA fragments are believed to have been found in the SARS-CoV-2 genome.

We knew that the Chinese version of how the coronavirus emerged was increasingly under attack, but here’s a thesis that tells a completely different story about the Covid-19 pandemic, which is already responsible for more than 110,000 deaths worldwide.

According to Professor Luc Montagnier, winner of the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 2008 for “discovering” HIV as the cause of the AIDS epidemic together with Françoise Barré-Sinoussi, the SARS-CoV-2 is a virus that was manipulated and accidentally released from a laboratory in Wuhan, China, in the last quarter of 2019.

According to Professor Montagnier, this laboratory, known for its work on coronaviruses, tried to use one of these viruses as a vector for HIV in the search for an AIDS vaccine!

“With my colleague, bio-mathematician Jean-Claude Perez, we carefully analyzed the description of the genome of this RNA virus,” explains Luc Montagnier, interviewed by Dr Jean-François Lemoine for the daily podcast at Pourquoi Docteur, adding that others have already explored this avenue:

Indian researchers have already tried to publish the results of the analyses that showed that this coronavirus genome contained sequences of another virus, … the HIV virus (AIDS virus), but they were forced to withdraw their findings as the pressure from the mainstream was too great.

In a challenging question Dr Jean-François Lemoine inferred that the coronavirus under investigation may have come from a patient who is otherwise infected with HIV.

“No,” says Luc Montagnier, “in order to insert an HIV sequence into this genome, molecular tools are needed, and that can only be done in a laboratory.”

According to the 2008 Nobel Prize for Medicine, a plausible explanation would be an accident in the Wuhan laboratory. He also added that the purpose of this work was the search for an AIDS vaccine.

The truth will eventually come out

In any case, this thesis, defended by Professor Luc Montagnier, has a positive turn. According to him, the altered elements of this virus are eliminated as it spreads:

“Nature does not accept any molecular tinkering, it will eliminate these unnatural changes and even if nothing is done, things will get better, but unfortunately after many deaths.”

Luc Montagnier added that with the help of interfering waves, we could eliminate these sequences and as a result stop the pandemic.

This is enough to feed some heated debates! So much so that Professor Montagnier’s statements could also place him in the category of “conspiracy theorists”:

“Conspirators are the opposite camp, hiding the truth,” he replies, without wanting to accuse anyone, but hoping that the Chinese will admit to what he believes happened in their laboratory.

To entice a confession from the Chinese he used the example of Iran which after taking full responsibility for accidentally hitting a Ukrainian plane was able to earn the respect of the global community. Hopefully the Chinese will do the right thing he adds.

“In any case, the truth always comes out, it is up to the Chinese government to take responsibility.”

The United States has launched a ‘full scale investigation’ into whether COVID-19 escaped from a biolab in Wuhan, China, according to Fox News.

According to the report, US intelligence operatives are gathering information regarding the laboratory and the initial outbreak of the virus, which was found in a horseshoe bat specimen collected by scientists from the Wuhan Institute of Virology in 2013 in a cave in Yunnan, China.

The investigation will help intelligence analysts piece together a timeline for what the CCP knew, as well as ‘create an accurate picture of what happened.’

The findings, which aren’t expected to take long, will then be presented to the Trump administration to determine how to hold China accountable for the pandemic which has killed over 150,000 people and infected at least 2 million as of this writing.

A Facebook fact checker who has ‘debunked’ articles suggesting that COVID-19 may have leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) has a giant conflict of interest; she worked at the institute – which is now suspected of accidentally leaking the hyper-virulent virus which has killed over 130,000 people and cast the global economy into chaos.

On Wednesday, Fox News reported that the virus likely originated in the Wuhan lab as part of an effort to prove that China’s ability to identify and combat viruses is equal or greater to the United States, as opposed to the creation of a bioweapon. Although according to the Nobel Prize-winning professor who discovered HIV, SARS-CoV-2 is a manipulated virus which was accidentally released from the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Professor Luc Montagnier says that the virus was clearly being used to study an AIDS vaccine.

Fox News, on the other hand, says that “sources point to the structure of the virus, in saying the genome mapping specifically shows it was not genetically altered,” and that “initial transmission of the virus was a naturally occurring strain that was being studied there – and then went into the population in Wuhan.”

Perhaps Fox, or their sources, are giving China a pass on the question of engineering.

Meanwhile, US officials are “100 percent confident that China went to great lengths to cover up after the virus was out,” and that the World Health Organization (WHO) was either complicit in the coverup, or looked the other way.

The president hinted at an investigation on Wednesday when he told Fox News’ John Roberts: “More and more we’re hearing the story…we are doing a very thorough examination of this horrible situation.”

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Friday reiterated that the administration was eyeing the Wuhan Institute of Virology, and accused the Chinese government of stonewalling scientists from finding out what happened. –Fox News

“We know that the first sightings of this occurred within miles of the Wuhan Institute of Virology. We know that this – the history of the facility, the first BSL-4 lab where there’s high-end virus research being conducted, took place at that site,” said Mike Pompeo on the Hugh Hewitt show. “We know that the Chinese Communist Party, when it began to evaluate what to do inside of Wuhan, considered whether the WIV was, in fact, the place where this came from.”

“And most importantly, we know they’ve not permitted the world’s scientists to go into that laboratory to evaluate what took place there, what’s happening there, what’s happening there even as we speak,” he added.

There has been speculation for months, not just in the U.S., that the virus originated in a Chinese laboratory. A February study on the origins of the virus from the South China University of Technology concluded: “In addition to origins of natural recombination and intermediate host, the killer coronavirus probably originated from a laboratory in Wuhan.”

Should it turn out that the virus escaped from a Chinese laboratory, the global pushback against the Chinese government could be significant. The virus has infected and killed hundreds of thousands of people and ravaged economies across the globe. Trump, who has frequently taken a hardline towards China even before the crisis, would be expected to lead calls to make Beijing face consequences. –Fox News

The group of Indian researchers pulled their findings to address concerns pointed out by other scientists, which suggests to me they will republish in the future. Hopefully the 2nd time around their research will be able to withstand the scrutiny. I will watch with interest. At this time we can not point to this research by itself and say "It's a fact". This is a preliminary study. Considering the grave situation, it was shared in BioRxiv as soon as possible to have creative discussion on the fast evolution of SARS-like corona viruses. It was not our intention to feed into the conspiracy theories and no such claims are made here. Renowned Microbiologist Claims Wuhan Lab ‘Did Absolutely Crazy Things’ With Coronavirus

A world-renowned Russian microbiologist says that the novel coronavirus responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic was the result of Wuhan scientists doing “absolutely crazy things” in their laboratory.

Dr. Peter Chumakov of the Engelhardt Institute of Molecular Biology and Russian Academy of Sciences claims that while the Wuhan scientists’ goal in creating the coronavirus was not malicious – instead, they were trying to study the pathogenicity of the virus, according to the Daily Mail.

“In China, scientists at the Wuhan Laboratory have been actively involved in the development of various coronavirus variants for over ten years,” he said. “Moreover, they did this, supposedly not with the aim of creating pathogenic variants, but to study their pathogenicity.”

‘The picture of the possible creation of the current coronavirus is slowly emerging.‘

He told Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper: ‘There are several inserts, that is, substitutions of the natural sequence of the genome, which gave it special properties.

‘It is interesting that the Chinese and Americans who worked with them published all their works in the open (scientific) press.

‘I even wonder why this background comes to people very slowly.

‘I think that an investigation will nevertheless be initiated, as a result of which new rules will be developed that regulate the work with the genomes of such dangerous viruses.

‘It’s too early to blame anyone.’

Chumakov suggested that Chinese scientists were possibly searching for an HIV vaccine.

The Mail notes that the professor works for Russia’s Federal Research Center for Research and Development of Immunobiological Preparations – while Vladimir Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, advised against speculation that the virus was manmade.

“In the situation where there is not enough information that has been supported and checked by science … we think it is unacceptable, impossible, to groundlessly accuse anyone,” said Peskov.

Meanwhile, the head of Russia’s Federal Medical-Biological agency, Veronika Skvortsova, told Russia’s Channel One “This question is not that easy. It demands a very thorough study,” adding “None of the versions can be ruled out.”

“We can see that a fairly large number of fragments distinguishes this virus from its very close relative, SARS,” Skvortsova added. “They are approximately 94 per cent similar, the rest is different… I think that we must conduct a very serious research.

As evidence mounts, investigations take hold, and lawsuits are filed against China over the apparent lab based origin of the coronavirus, another prominent voice has leant his weight to the matter in the form of White House Trade Adviser Peter Navarro.

Appearing on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” Navarro stated clearly that he believes the US intelligence position that the virus was leaked from a Chinese lab, and that the communist state fed a pack of lies to the World Health Organization (WHO).

“They spawned the virus, probably in that P4 lab right there in China,” Navarro urged

“And then they hid the virus behind the shield of the World Health Organization.” he added.

“And Sean, what that did over a six-week period is allow hundreds of thousands of Wuhanians, basically, to get on aircraft and seed the world.” Navarro continued.

Navarro also noted that China stockpiled PPE supplies in order to ‘profiteer’ from the crisis, as well as “sending us counterfeit tests.”

“What we know is that the ground zero for this virus was within a few miles of that lab. If you simply do an Occam’s razor approach, that the simplest explanation is probably the most likely, I think it’s incumbent on China to prove that it wasn’t that lab. So that’s number one.” Navarro said.

Here Are The Key Findings From The Bombshell Government Dossier On China’s Bat Virus Program
Evidence destroyed, data kept secret, virus created in lab

A leaked dossier compiled by Western intelligence agencies concludes that China lied and deliberately suppressed or destroyed evidence during the crucial early days of the COVID-19 outbreak, and notes that Chinese researchers have been experimenting with – and creating – deadly bat coronaviruses.

Here are key findings from the 15-page report compiled by Western governments known as the ‘Five Eyes,’ according to Australia’s Daily Telegraph.

The great coverup

A key theme of the dossier is that China’s negligence and lies resulted in the “endangerment of other countries,” as the CCP silenced or ‘disappeared’ doctors who spoke out.

Doctors who bravely spoke out about the new virus were detained and condemned. Their detentions were splashed across the Chinese-state media with a call from Wuhan Police for “all citizens to not fabricate rumours, not spread rumours, not believe rumours.”

A tweet from the Global Times on January 2 states: “Police in Central China’s Wuhan arrested 8 people spreading rumours about local outbreak of unidentifiable #pneumonia. Previous online posts said it was SARS.” This had the intended effect of silencing other doctors who may have been inclined to speak out. –Daily Telegraph

Furthermore, evidence was destroyed, and China refused to provide live samples to international scientists working on a vaccine.

The paper obtained by The Saturday Telegraph speaks about “the suppression and destruction of evidence” and points to “virus samples ordered destroyed at genomics labs, wildlife market stalls bleached, the genome sequence not shared publicly, the Shanghai lab closure for ‘rectification’, academic articles subjected to prior review by the Ministry of Science and Technology and data on asymptomatic ‘silent carriers’ kept secret”. –Daily Telegraph

China’s deadly denials

The dossier slams China’s constant lies about the virus, noting that “Despite evidence of human-human transmission from early December, PRC authorities deny it until January 20,” adding “The World Health Organisation does the same. Yet officials in Taiwan raised concerns as early as December 31, as did experts in Hong Kong on January 4.”

China also imposed internal travel bans while condemning the rest of the world for wanting to do the same.

“Millions of people leave Wuhan after the outbreak and before Beijing locks down the city on January 23,” reads the dossier. “Thousands fly overseas. Throughout February, Beijing presses the US, Italy, India, Australia, Southeast Asian neighbours and others not to protect themselves via travel restrictions, even as the PRC imposes severe restrictions at home.”

The dossier also notes that China successfully pressured the EU to strike language about PRC disinformation, and has threatened Australia for continuing to investigate.

“As Australia calls for an independent inquiry into the pandemic, PRC threatens to cut off trade with Australia. PRC has likewise responded furiously to US calls for transparency.”

Engineered?

While the leaked dossier does not reach a conclusion whether COVID-19 is of natural origin or engineered, it includes a February 6 study from the South China University of Technology which suggested “the killer coronavirus probably originated from a laboratory in Wuhan.

The paper was withdrawn due to what its lead author said was a lack of direct evidence, however the dossier notes that scholar Yanzhong Huang said on March 5 “No scientists have confirmed or refuted the paper’s findings.”

That said, the Telegraph notes that the official US position is that the virus was not engineered, but that it escaped from either the Wuhan Institute of Virology or the Chinese CDC, which is located roughly 900 feet from the Wuhan wet market from which a cluster of early cases emerged.

“The Intelligence Community also concurs with the wide scientific consensus that the COVID-19 virus was not man-made or genetically modified,” said acting Director of National Intelligence, Richard Grenell, adding “The IC will continue to rigorously examine emerging information and intelligence to determine whether the outbreak began through contact with infected animals or if it was the result of an accident at a laboratory in Wuhan.”

China’s ‘risky bat research’ and creation of deadly viruses

While the international scientific consensus is that COVID-19 wasn’t manmade, the Western intelligence dossier highlights research by scientists Shi Zhengli and her protégé Peng Zhou, whose work on bat coronavirus Zero Hedge highlighted in January, and who were modifying bat coronavirus to test its transmissibility to other species.

Shi Zhengli, director of the Centre for Emerging Infectious Diseases at the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Wuhan Institute of Virology, who working in Australia in 2006.

It notes a 2013 study conducted by a team of researchers, including Dr Shi, who collected a sample of horseshoe bat faeces from a cave in Yunnan province, China, which was later found to contain a virus 96.2 per cent identical to SARS-CoV-2, the virus that caused COVID-19.

The research dossier also references work done by the team to synthesise SARS-like coronaviruses, to analyse whether they could be transmissible from bats to mammals. This means they were altering parts of the virus to test whether it was transmissible to different species. –Daily Telegraph

A November 2015 study from Zhengli and her team in conjunction with the University of North Carolina concluded that the SARS-like coronavirus could jump directly from bats to humans, and there is currently no cure or treatment.

The Western dossier notes from the study: “To examine the emergence potential (that is, the potential to infect humans) of circulating bat CoVs, we built a chimeric virus encoding a novel, zoonotic CoV spike protein — from the RsSHCO14-CoV sequence that was isolated from Chinese horseshoe bats — in the context of the SARS-CoV mouse-adapted backbone.”

“This virus is highly pathogenic and treatments developed against the original SARS virus in 2002 and the ZMapp drugs used to fight ebola fail to neutralise and control this particular virus,” said North Carolina University Professor Ralph Baric, a co-author on the 2015 paper.

A few years later, in March 2019, Dr Shi and her team, including Peng Zhou, who worked in Australia for five years, published a review ­titled Bat Coronaviruses in China in the medical journal Viruses, where they wrote that they “aim to predict virus hot spots and their cross-species transmission potential”, describing it as a matter of “urgency to study bat corona­viruses in China to understand their potential of causing another outbreak. Their review stated: “It is highly likely that future SARS or MERS like coronavirus outbreaks will originate from bats, and there is an increased probability that this will occur in China.”

The report notes that Dr. Shi’s research continues to this day, telling Scientific American “Bat-borne coronaviruses will cause more outbreaks … We must find them before they find us.”

Zhengli and Zhou’s Australian research

Both Shi and Zhou spent three years at Australia’s Animal Health Laboratory – operated by the country’s national science agency CSIRO. Between 2011 and 2014, Zhou arranged for wild bats to be caught and transported alive from Queensland to the lab in Victoria, where they were euthanized, dissected and studied for deadly viruses.

While the United States has since cut all funding to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, CSIRO refused to acknowledge questions over whether it was still collaborating with lab.

Wuhan lab worker who disappeared…

The Telegraph notes the case of Huang Yan Ling, a researcher at the Wuhan Institute of Virology who is rumored to be “patient zero” after having been the first to be diagnosed with the disease.

Then came her reported disappearance, with her biography and image deleted from the Wuhan Institute of Virology’s website.

On February 16 the institute denied she was ­patient zero and said she was alive and well, but there has been no proof of life since then, fanning speculation. –Daily Telegraph
