"Universities: institutions of Higher Learning?, Indoctrination Camps? or Insane Asylums?

By Allen Tharp

From start to finish, our schools, colleges, and universities have now become institutions of liberal, Marxist indoctrination. They are no longer legitimate educational institutions. Math and science have been replaced by government-directed social justice and social engineering, as the holy grail of higher education.

As in Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World written in 1932, today’s indoctrination starts as soon as possible with Pre-K. In his dystopian novel, infants receive early conditioning by removing them from their parents and putting them in government-run conditioning camps, where they are programmed through various stimuli to react in the desired fashion. Lay an open book on the floor near two different groups of infants. Then one of the groups is enticed to crawl toward the colorful pages; however, that group is punished with an electrical shock when they reach the books. Eventually that group of infants learn to avoid books completely. Another group of infants, though, is rewarded for crawling to the books and come to see books as a positive experience, so later become fond of reading.

Pre-K, kindergarten, and elementary school are the Federal government’s 21st century version of early indoctrination camps. Pre-K offers no long-term, educational advantage to children; but our bankrupt government still spends billions of our dollars on it for some reason, anyway.

Although all this indoctrination is economically unsustainable for a bankrupt country, the government still insists on control of children and takes over their education from parents at an earlier and earlier age to get the programming started as early as possible. While they may not yet be using electric shock for conditioning, they are nonetheless very actively involved in programming the minds of the next generation.

It is easy to recognize the liberal programming techniques used across the board, after you are aware that it is happening. So lets look at just a few of the liberal sacred cows and see how our youth are programmed to accept liberal positions. Stripping gun rights, censoring opposing or conservative viewpoints, weakening the traditional family unit, and promoting the myth of anthropogenic climate change are just a few of the key objectives in the left-wing religion of liberalism.

Gun rights.

Pertaining to 2nd amendment rights, liberals loathe the fact that our right to own guns is enshrined in the Constitution. They know they do not have enough support to amend the Constitution and overturn the 2nd amendment though. So they are preparing the next generation to have an innate aversion to all guns. By starting the aversion indoctrination process early on, the conditioning should endure throughout their adulthood.

Young school children who chew their cookie into the shape of a gun have been unbelievably chastised and even suspended for showing perceived violent tendencies. Children who pretend to shoot a bow and arrow or shape their hand into a pretend gun have been punished and ostracized from other children until they accept that what they did was unacceptable and antisocial. Guns are bad! And You are bad if you even draw a picture of a gun or think about guns or eat your dessert into the shape of a gun.

Liberals ignore the fact that when many of us grew up in the 50s, 60s, and 70s that it was common to have guns around schools, often in plain sight on gun racks in trucks. Yet gun violence in schools was unheard of. In those days, we all also carried pocket knives to school, yet stabbings in school hardly ever happened. History proves that access to weapons did not increase violence, but the liberals can’t be bothered with the facts.

Censoring opposing or conservative views.

Then there is the 1st amendment that is also despised by liberal Marxists especially when it protects conservative points of view. Children are indoctrinated from their earliest years in school that dissent is not permitted and only politically correct speech is permissible. Anyone who challenges that notion is quickly told that the issues are settled science. The topic is not open for discussion. The time for debate is over. The same techniques of peer pressure, ostracism, and aversion/reward stimuli are used to mold attitudes and behavior regardless of whether the issue is gun rights, man-made global warming, deficit spending, gay marriage, or other liberal dogma. Questioning or debating liberal precepts is considered blasphemy.

Thus we have the advent of universities becoming liberal insane asylums, with ultra-political correctness being more important than reality or frank and open discussion. Censorship of opposing political views, under the guise of protecting the delicate feelings of oversensitive, spoiled crybabies eager to be offended, has taken precedence over the Constitutionally guaranteed first amendment right to free speech.

Campuses designate areas they call “safe zones” from free speech. They miss the point that being safe from freedom is just another way to say tyranny. They think the first amendment only protects speech with which they agree. Conservative counterpoint is considered subversive and offensive, as if stifling free speech itself is not offensive.

But even censoring opposing points of view and squashing dissent on campus are not enough for these liberals. They also sanitize history by getting rid of any symbols or words that liberals might find offensive. Historical figures that do not fit the liberal construct of the day are to be eradicated and even erased from memory.

The list of things liberals are offended by is endless and ever growing. Christian religious symbols, Confederate flags, Gadsden flags, and even American flags are condemned as offensive and racist relics of the past. They find certain names of streets, buildings, and airports to be hurtful and demand they be changed. They feel perfectly within their rights to deface all historical monuments representing any part of southern heritage. They demand they be removed, along with any symbols the victim class can in any way infer to be racist, sexist, anti-gay, anti-transgender, or not reflective of their liberal bias. Cost, of course, is not a factor

Recently one university went on high alert and actually offered counseling to all students who might have been offended by a Confederate flag sticker on a student’s laptop. Think of the hypocrisy here. Ridiculous histrionics over a Confederate flag sticker on a laptop but not a peep against the ubiquitous symbols of the Marxist, murdering revolutionary, Che Guevara. And what about those offended by Obama stickers or rainbow flags? There is no move on campus to eradicate those symbols deemed offensive or offer counseling for those offended by these symbols. The selective outrage is astounding.

Weakening the family unit.

Look at how the campus Marxists are also using schools to attack the social fabric of our nation and undermine the importance of the family unit–although growing up in a traditional, nuclear family has proven to be the best predictor of happiness and success. But now the importance of having a traditional mother and father is minimized. Alternative life styles are promoted to students who are far too young to grasp such concepts. These are matters that should be left up to families to deal with how and when they decide, and schools have no business whatsoever getting involved. Schools should not be permitted to override parental rights and religious beliefs by subjecting impressionable children to confusion about something as important as gender and sexuality.

This intrusion by the Department of Education into a realm that must be reserved for the parent causes unnecessary confusion in children. In instances when students have shown gender confusion, school administrators have thrown biological science out of the window and even required students to refer to a boy as a girl. They demand that students use the pronouns “her” and “she,” when referring to a boy who wants to be a girl. “This is an infringement upon the other students’ rights to be honest and forces students to accept an alternate reality. Just because you want to be a walrus does not mean you are a walrus.

In once such case the Liberty Counsel stated, “No one has a moral right to compel others to participate in a fiction (including compelling teachers and others to use pronouns that do not correspond to objective biological gender).”

They continued, “No credible medical authority establishes the proposition that biological sex can be changed. Dr. Paul McHugh, former chief psychiatrist for Johns Hopkins Hospital, wrote in a June 12, 2014, Wall Street Journal op-ed, ‘Policy makers and the media are doing no favors either to the public or the transgendered’ by refusing to treat transgender confusions ‘as a mental disorder that deserves understanding, treatment and prevention.’ While students suffering from gender confusion should be treated with kindness and respect, schools should not, by their policies or practices, attempt to coerce other students and teachers into participating in what amounts to a harmful delusion.”

The bottom line is that no one can really change their gender. Regardless of what parts of your body you remove, add, or enhance, you still have the same genetic makeup you were born with: trillions of genes have chromosomes that determine which gender you are. Women have two x chromosomes, while men have two distinct chromosomes, x and y. Nothing can alter this genetic difference. If you are born a male, you will always be a male.

Myth of anthropogenic climate change.

The same indoctrination techniques as above are used to instill an unwaivering and unquestioning belief in the culpability of mankind for any climate change occurring on earth, despite evidence to the contrary. Course assignments, for tots through grad students, ingrain the concept that western mankind is responsible for the coming destruction of the globe. Students are conditioned to embrace the guilt for all of western industrialized society and accept climate pseudoscience as a religion. It is sacrilegious to question such a supposedly settled science.

A quick review of college courses reveals that there are hundreds of green courses, climate change courses, and diversity courses at colleges and universities all across the country that have about as much scientific value as a course on the Easter Bunny or the tooth fairy.

Many colleges now even require students to take at least one course on cultural diversity. What a great opportunity to instill in young minds anti-America, anti-family, anti-white, anti-police, and anti-religion sentiments. Students focus on race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, class and religion. It sounds like a colossal waste of time to me, unless the intent is to develop some budding new Al Sharpton-style race hucksters.

Since Obama came in to office, this manic obsession with our differences rather than our similarities has divided and alienated the various segments of American society in ways I thought I’d never see in my lifetime. The damage done by this divisive administration may be irreparable.

I’d like to wrap up with a short list of available college courses that confirm how loony things have gotten on campus. Why study chemistry or calculus when you can study Lady Gaga or the Unbearable Whiteness of Barbie?

Keep in mind that people are paying money – often borrowed from the taxpayers — on these nonsensical courses. For the sake of brevity, I’ll only give information on the course description when it seems necessary to understanding the course content. These courses tell you a lot about both the students and the administrators.
