For each of the last 4 years or so I have been adding to my long term storage of food staples.

Every year I seal up in Mylar with O2 absorbers:
Instant Rice, Oatmeal, malto meal, powdered milk, elbow noodles, French onion soup, instant potatoes.

I have a couple 5 gallon buckets of rice and pinto beans in Mylar with absorbers, and 1/2 gallon bottle of pickling salt, epsom salt, baking soda.

I’m going to be stepping this up again this summer doing more of all of the above as well as a few new things.

Any suggestions of what else would be good for this type of storage?

Thomas Paine (from "Common Sense" 1776)

I'm partial to red or kidney beans myself, they seem to go better with rice than pinto beans. And chili with pinto beans just seems WRONG. But that's just me.

I store 5 gallon buckets of beans, rice, salt, sugar, flour, corneal, oatmeal and dried potatoes.
