LIGHTS OUT, AMERICA: Energy company warns that Biden regime’s decision on shuttering pipelines will lead to widespread power outages

(Natural News) We’ve been warning for months that the Biden regime appears to be purposely attempting to tank the country’s economy so they can then blame it not on their policies but rather on a ‘failure of capitalism’ so they can justify full implementation of their “new” socialist programs.

It appears the next step in that process is about to occur.

The regime is said to be ‘considering’ shutting down a natural gas pipeline because of ‘environmental concerns,’ even though the pipeline is sound, stable and extremely vital to our country’s economy.

If that were to happen, warns a Missouri-based energy company, there will be widespread blackouts and power outages this winter and beyond.

“It’s our privilege to provide you with affordable and reliable natural gas, every day,” Spire Energy warned in an email to customers.

“In fact, the STL Pipeline was built to support your energy needs, along with those of more than 650,000 homes and businesses in the St. Louis region. Since 2019, this safe, fully operational pipeline has been bringing even more reliable and affordable natural gas to our community,” the company’s email continued.

“Unfortunately, while the STL Pipeline continues to operate today, it is now in jeopardy,” the email said.

“As a result, we want to keep you informed and prepared for potential natural gas disruptions—and outages—this winter if the pipeline is not kept in service,” [their emphasis], the email noted further, adding:

You may have heard about the pipeline in the news. In short, the government agency that regulates interstate pipelines approved the construction and operation of the Spire STL Pipeline after a two-year, rigorous regulatory review.

However, in January 2020, a New York-based environmentalist group challenged the government agency’s approval process, and in June 2021, the court ruled in the group’s favor. This ruling essentially took back the pipeline’s approval to operate.

The STL Pipeline is fully operational today, with temporary federal approval to operate through Dec. 13—but that only takes us halfway through Missouri’s coldest months.

“Spire has been working to keep the pipeline in service this winter as government regulators consider its long-term use. In fact, this week our CEO and Chief Legal Counsel traveled to Washington D.C. to talk with as many lawmakers as possible to help them understand the potential impact to the St. Louis community,” the email continued.

“We’re confident that we’ve done everything we can to demonstrate the critical role the pipeline plays in providing the St. Louis community with energy, but there are no guarantees it will operate beyond Dec. 13,” [their emphasis], Spire Energy noted further.

The company said that it remains “hopeful” that the regime won’t shutter the pipeline, but company officials seem resigned to that eventuality because they know what the agenda is: Destroy America.

“While we’re hopeful the government will extend the approval for the pipeline to operate for the full winter heating season, we want to be prepared,” says the email, noting that officials have “created an emergency plan” aimed at reducing “the potential impact for residential customers and businesses that provide critical services.”

That is, blackouts.

“Our goal, as always, is to keep you safe and warm. As the most reliable energy source to heat homes, cook meals and fuel industry, natural gas outages are extremely rare. However, a St. Louis winter without the STL Pipeline in service is a different situation,” [our emphasis] the email said.

“So along the way, we’ll keep you informed, help you prepare for potential outages or service disruptions and advocate for the continued operation of the pipeline—because we know it’s the right thing to do for our customers and our community,” the company added.

It is obvious by now that the regime is working overtime to destroy our fossil fuel industries because our economy depends on them.

Spire customers in St Louis received letters from Spire explaining the situation to them. I notice that the reason for the imminent shortage/disruptions seems lost on those customers. It’s not that leftwing customers are ignoring the cause outlined by Spire due to bias; rightwing customers seem just as ignorant as to the facts of the cause, even after having read Spire’s warnings. It could be normalcy bias, or simply that the average person is bereft of the capacity to grasp the cause outlined by Spire or the implications of Spire’s warnings. Whatever the reason, the reactions I’ve encountered in St Louis involve mild concern and confusion. Beyond that, I would describe St Louisans as apparently apathetic toward the situation.

I’ll be interested to see how citizens of St Louis respond to rolling blackouts of natural gas this winter, amid skyrocketing rates. I’ll also be interested to see if they begin complaining to or protesting against the government this winter, when of course they should be doing that now, before the effects of the government’s intervention negatively impacts them.

Considering how clean, safe and abundant natural gas is… it always made me wonder at why the tree huggers were always s so dead set about wanting to destroy it!
