In light of numerous recent events AWRM is now requiring everyone to register and log in if you wish to read or post.
This is for everyone's security.

As soon as I had to Login I knew why the Login is again required, but while I do have a problem with the effectiveness of it, at this time, it does no harm to us or our cause, so it doesn't really bother me to have to login.
As I see it, locking up the site at this time is:
locking the stable door after the horse is stolen.
I am sure that the SPLC and all the other liberal scum who want to destroy our Great Republic already have spies as members of this site so locking it up now will have very limited effectiveness.
It is a feel good measure and just because the site now requires Login does not mean that it is safe for us to express our opinions.

Vader,You're correct.
We've always known that those people were here.
But by making them register and log in they loose their anonymity. We can id them.
This move merely stops the lazy drive by media.

Could you disable accounts for "inactive members"? So the trolls that "joined" to get an ID, but never contributed would be locked out?
This leaves just the "active trolls"...

I've been considering that. But that would leave very few.
Some are gone; others lurk but are afraid to post.

If somebody needs to find a unit to join - not being able to read this board is not going to cost much in the way of personnel loss.
The somewhat less public view makes lurkers come out from hiding if they really want to see what has been posted - not that it makes a difference to what I post.

Before I made the board semi-private awrm averaged 100-200 lurkers per hour, 24 hours a day.
Many are just curious, others are no doubt paid to be here and monitor...that has always been a given.
Also, anytime there is "an event" that involves someone from the patriot world, there is a spike in visits from the drive by media who are looking for some juicy bits of gossip they can quote out of context in their next hit piece. This has also always been a given.
Then, we have the rest...members of this board. Those who are afraid to log in or post because they think "those people" might see them.
Guys, why do you think they call it the interNET, the world wide WEB? It's always been about control...from day one.
Think about it. If you use ANY form of electronic communication, "those people" already know who you are.
If you're online and hiding your presence here, you are only hiding from your fellow members. "Those people" already know your a lurker.
So, it's time to stop deluding yourself, become active again and participate.
And for those who say "I just want to read".
If everyone is afraid to say something, there will be nothing for anyone to read.

Several years back I did exactly that on VCM's Yahoo Group. I culled out about 80% of the "members" when I deleted anyone who was registered for more than a month and had never logged in, anybody who hadn't posted anything for several months, and anyone who had been logging in regularly but never commented on anything. This last group gave me the most concern. Lo and behold, nobody emailed a complaint about being booted. What are they going to say; "Hi, you don't know me because I've never contributed anything, but I'm a spy you've rooted out and would like to be let back in" ?

I don't normally log in unless I want to post something.
Locking the site irritates me for three reasons the least of which is since it forces me to log in and most of the time I am running Linux Live DVD so I can't just stay logged in.
One of the the big reasons is there are a lot of information on this site that I believe people new to the Patriot Cause should have access to, and they are now prevented from viewing it.
When I or others have mentioned this before, the response is that every thing that they need does not require to be Logged in.
This information is limited to The National Militia Standards and nothing else, which is believe is wrong.
It is not necessary to lock up the entire site all that is needed is to lock up the Forums that should be kept confidential.
The other big reason is I can't be the only person who does not like to buy a Pig in a Poke or a Grab Bag and if this board was locked up from the beginning I never would have joined it without first knowing what type of site I was joining.
Just because it is called A Well Regulated Militia does not mean it couldn't be a Skin Head Site in disguise. The only way to know for sure is to read the posts.
What this site should have if it is to be locked up is to have one completely UNLOCKED Forum where prospective members can get to know if the members are good guys or bad guys and the Board is one they would want to join by reading the posts and by asking questions.
A get to know the Members Forum where the members will practice self control with what they post.
It would also need to be heavily Moderated for obvious reasons.

The housecleaning began earlier this week. As of now, approximately 1200 obviously bogus member accounts have been culled. More to come. Anyone who hasn't bothered to log in or post in the past 10 years doesn't need to be here. Better only 1000 active members than 5000 lurkers who never contribute anything. We made this board members only several years ago for numerous reasons. It was only reopened as a test, to see if it would generate more active interest and participation. Unfortunately, that test failed; fell far short of any expectations. If new people want to see what we're about, they can go here or here or here . A get to know the Members Forum We already have that right here . IF we had more people contributing to the cause we could afford the necessary software to overhaul this seriously obsolete, half broken website, make much needed improvements etc. But folks, so far that ain't happenin.

Its like tell people, I'd rather have quality then quantity in a militia unit. This forum is a great example of the principle... not a lot of fluff and political BSs or ego.

Ah, but 'you' may see them more clearly as well. Perhaps they're not sure they want you to ID them. Those who may not be afraid, but feel "unwelcome" simply due to the past mis-adventures of other associates... Sometimes the "collateral-dammage-set" likes to keep abreast of things, too. Sometimes the "collateral-dammage-set" likes to keep abreast of things, too. And low-profile locals are the best support system.[/b] Everything you say is true. As you said, it's a double-edged sword. Some people who are sympathetic to our cause won't register, out of fear. And some of our enemies will register, so they can still spy on us. We made the decision that it's worth it to give up the casual onlookers, in order to make it harder for the enemies. It's a judgment call, and the decision was not unanimous. But in the end, we think it was the right decision for this particular time. Onward and upward, airforce

O.Kellog, Don't be so cryptic. Got something to say...just say it. Anyone who is paranoid about being tracked by the government should ditch their cellphone and stay off the interNET. Ah, but 'you' may see them more clearly as well. Perhaps they're not sure they want you to ID them. Since this is my house, I have the right to identify anyone coming through my door. Those who may not be afraid, but feel "unwelcome" simply due to the past mis-adventures of other associates... Don't know about that nor why anyone would feel unwelcome here. Everyone is welcome to participate and if they don't; that's on them not us. Some people might be bending over backwards if they hadn't already been screwed... Just sayin'... To my knowledge no one here has "screwed" anyone. So, your point?

I think it was a good move CSC... I commend it...
Things are getting crazy fast and having a more secure AWRM is a good idea..
People we'd better start supporting this site.. It is slowly become one of the few places I trust enough to even post on..
Now that my health is returning quickly I plan to be much more active and none too soon.... We need to really united behind each other...
safely of course..

http://www.threepercenter.org/index.php I jump back and forth between that one and AWRM several times a day, and sometimes post things over there that I find here. I'm Pastor Mike over there.

In light of numerous recent events AWRM is now requiring everyone to register and log in if you wish to read or post.
I like it better that way. There for a while you didn't have to login at all and that was...troubling.
Well, this is it.
