Good for eating,medicine and bug repellant Cattails : a good black fly and mosquito repellant. cut the old stalks off about 2ft or so and put near campsite of if just sitting out side ,,then light the brown heads like you would a torch . bugs hate the unpleasant odor . Also mashed up Catail flowers make a good salve for cuts,scratches or burns. And the sticky juice between the young leaves makes an excellant antiseptic,anaesthetic and stypic. In guerrilla warfare they taught us to use our weaknesses as strengths. If they're big and you're little, then you're fast and they're slow. You're hidden and they're exposed. You fight only the battles you know you can win.
