For anyone who thinks Amish don't use cell phones, then what's with the cell number I use to call my old Amish neighbor?. All his daughters have cell phones. They'd get a call and their mom would have to remind them "not in the house". Outside was ok. Maybe they were propane and not electric cell phones.

As far as not driving trucks, they usually do not once joining the church, unless you are my other old Amish neighbor who went on trips in the rented RV and yes he drove it, and he wasn't exactly a young guy.

It's not surprising though in Lancaster county to walk into an Amish run business or store and it's lit with gas lights and cooled with air powered ceiling fans
