The simple answer?
Greed, and power.

The "banker elites" running everything worldwide, while we all slave away producing profit which they keep, giving us only "what we need to survive".
They will distribute the rest "for the good of society". All they'll really do is pocket it.

The "welfare state" is only temporary. Once everyone, or the vast majority at least, is dependent on Gov't for everything, then it'll change. You'll have to work to keep getting your "free" lifestyle. You'll be expected to produce to your bast ability, and they'll take care of your every need.
Of course, you'll never be able to move up in the world, make a better life for your children, get rich, etc.

Of course, what they forget, is that people who have no goals to work for, don't.
