As you point out, I'm not inclined to believe in some grand conspiracy theory involving the Illuminati, or the Freemasons, or the Rothschilds, or anybody. If these guys really were in charge, then they're pretty damn inept. But
power? Yep, that's what the politicians want. And the only way they can get more of it is by taking it from The People.
