Eisenhower set the precedent for recess appointments for Supreme Court appointments, having done it three times including Earl Warren. The Senate cannot take a break or allow an appointment for the next 11 months or we will end up with the total transformation of the constitution.

I don't think that McConnell will hold the line. He wants to thought of as a good Senate Majority leader and probably won't be able to control himself, choosing to allow an appointee that will destroy at least the 2nd amendment and probably the 1st amendment.
