It means to me they had taken at least some part in the pre-existing strategy for the "squatter" narrative that predated the incident.

In all honesty, they could have come up with some story about how "infighting claims lives of sovereign citizens", but they were already primed for another narrative.

Now watch, they are going to manufacture a narrative in defiance of all evidence and logic about the "basket of deplorables" attacking various representatives of the protected classes and thus will stomp, pout and demand a crackdown.

What that boils down to is the SPLC trying to out-buy police operations. They want a bunch of the militia groups under investigation so their own SJWs don't come under scrutiny.

I knew this was going to happen, which is a large part of why I have put out word for our tactical operatives to lay low, stay out of this and wait for the sides to sort out. All of the undercover operatives have no choice but to start working the leftist circles and if they don't, then conventional law enforcement will hate the organizations which do that kind of undercover work, feel sold out and fucked over, then go looking for new alliances.

That in turn, could break the back of the SPLC which at its core, functions as a grey/black ops branch of the FBI and clearinghouse for intelligence fed to local law enforcement agencies. They can be accused of one sided intelligence targeting if we are out mixing it up with the rioters, and then shrug off those accusations by claiming that militia groups are the bigger threat, and rioters are actually highly disciplined and organized legal protesters. Then it will come out showing they had defacto government permission to do what they did, and the responsibility for damages goes to the SPLC sponsors, and they can't blame us, we weren't even there.

If we are not out there skirmishing and its clearly an acceptance of "back off and let the police handle it", then it starts to get real obvious that the SPLC is hostile to police, or is not giving sufficient intelligence information for the amount of money that they were given. Hence, their credibility drops as cities burn and we don't have to lift a finger.
