Beijing has for decades sought to develop the perception of a Casus Belli among its people for war with Washington, and to generally develop hostility for Washington among its people. As is common for far-left states, Beijing has also long chosen to reply to the accusations of its adversaries with an echo, accusing its enemies of the same it has been accused of by its enemies. China’s claim that America “is launching biological warfare” against it is the latest retort in a string of responses to relevant American assessments made both inside and outside of the US government. It is arguably the most aggressive accusation yet which Beijing has lauded against Washington, among a series of significant accusations, all within the same CCP approved statement. As China appears to have increased the intensity of its internal propaganda intended to develop a perception of Casus Belli against and hostility for America, I believe Beijing intends a near-term escalation amid the Sino-American Cold War underway.
