I was talking to a Chinese national a couple months ago. He told me that in China, no one watches the news - because it's all government "news," or propaganda.
The notion that “no one” does a thing is a red flag suggestive of bias and exaggeration, because of course someone does. In fact, very many do. I would compare his stating that nobody in China watches the news because they recognize it to be propaganda, to the reasonable chance that you might tell him the same about Americans and CNN. You and I might recognize CNN to be unreliable far-left propaganda, but about half the country would disagree.
