It's classic Trump. He had no intention of actually taking over Gaza. But it keeps people guessing, and forces them to react. If they make counter proposals, it's a win.
Clearly, what we're doing now isn't working. But if we get Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia involved in any solution, it just might.
While I'm certainly no fan of Trump, he's done quite a bit in the last few days I like. And I get what he's doing here.
