Find a self sufficient rural area. Stay 20-25 miles away from the nearest interstate and 15 miles away from any major highway. Try to locate 10-12 miles from a small town. Try to find land that is partially wooded and well off the road with no neighbors "next door". Seclusion and isolation can be your friend during hard times. Try to get at least one other team or family member to move with you. Buy at least 2 acres, preferably five per family. This will be enough to grow a large garden and raise a cow or chickens for food, milk, eggs etc. It's essential that a secure water source be on the property or you must drill a well. Do not depend on outside sources for essential utilities.
