I would suggest avoiding anywhere easily accesible that popped into your head as a "Bugout" Location. If you thought of it now, chances are that other people have as well. Try to find limited-access places, far off the beaten path, with very few signs (if any) of personell. The more remote and the least set-up for living, the better. THIS will be a place that you prepare ahead of time to be a suitable area for living.

Personally, I am partial to making plans with my many farming relatives to help out at their farms, and to show up at random times, this being one of those times. A friendly area is always the best place to go to, as opposed to concentrating on unfriendly areas to avoid.
