We are only 6 months into this administration and we already are seeing articles like this? I think we really need to be worried...

Local Wal-Mart is and has been out of all of the higher military cal ammo. 7.62, 7.62x39, 5.56, 9mm,.45 etc. .22 is still plenty as well as 12GA and 30.30. Hunting cal like 270,243 are still avail. Just as soon as we get in a brick of 5.56 it is gone!

I consider it good news - the more weapons and ammunition that is sold the better. It makes the argument that any ban would be pointless in the short term, and confiscation would have unpleasant consequences.

WallyWorld officially began rationing ammo two days ago, corporate-wide.

The new limit is 6 boxes of ammo per person, per day, if they have any in stock...

I would gladly lay aside the use of arms and settle matters by negotiation, but unless the whole will, the matter ends, and I take up my battle rifle, and thank God that He has put it within my grasp.

Need to learn how to make our own, from scratch.

Let's see-bullet, powder, primer, case. We need to be able to make all the components and have a capacity to do it from scratch. Bullets can be cast, the copper jacket pressed from pipe. Nitrocellulose or an ammopulver substitute, a reliable recipe has to be set and quality control maintained. Primer... that's basically a tiny quantity of detonator.

The hardest component will be forming new brass; the high pressure die machines will have to be bought or made. Oh, the raw material-will we be able to maintain use of brass or will substitutes like steel, aluminum and plastic be needed?

The hardest two items to making your own, is the primer and the smokeless powder. Blackpowder can be made in the kitchen with normally found items, but black will tear a semi-auto up pretty quick... Priming agents are just really dangerous to make and handle, plus thier composition is much harder to obtain.

I know the lowly 12 guage pump isn't a proper combat weapon, but it would handle the black powder just fine. The projectiles can be found in the garage or on the ground, and the wadding can be made from old T-shirts... but again you need primers, and hulls... although in a pinch you could come up with a workable hull....

The idea of a home level reloading and more deeply ammo making facilities has much merit, but many obstacles too....

The ammo problem is here too, I've seen guys argue about who was going to get the last box of 9mm ammo at the local Walmart....

.22 is still plenty...
You're doing better than us. I went looking for .22 rat shot at our local China Mart and they were out of that. They didn't know when there would be anymore in either.

Cache some cases of ammo from your old stash NOW. That stuff never gets messed with until the ammo supply situation improves or you start combat operations.

If you circulate through a couple of combat loads of ammo without obtaining more, then you either picked the wrong types of combat operations, ended up dead, or got really retarded about the concept of obtaining supplies form enemy personnel and supply points.

What could be a problem though is the diminishing returns on the amount of ammo you expend vs the amount of ammo you obtain when you take down enemy personnel.

You think they're just going to be sitting around scratching and picking, near some anhydrous?

Last week a local sporting goods store opened in BURLINGTON WA. It used to be known as Holiday Market. Located off Rio Vista and HW20 on south side of HW20. Their new SKAGIT ARMS GUN SHOP has ALL NATO CALIBERS. I was assured they have a good selection of Warsaw-Pact calibers as well. They were said to be low on 22 ammo but did have CCI 22. For liability reasons they only plan to carry hunting rifles and shotguns. Nor will they be carrying milsurp gear.

Their tackle shop has an excellent inventory of fall hunting gear like RealTree camo and the like. When I was there early last week the place was swarming with people. The parking lot was packed with trucks. smile

The ammo is reappearing, but the prices are higher, which makes sense, since ammo is one of the few commodities which actually functions in response to FRN devaluation (aka inflation).

Wheat prices are 50% less than last year, but ammo is up 100% for the year, at least.

Of all my investments over the last ten years, ammo has been the best, by about a 200% margin.

Surprisingly at the Winchester gun show this weekend 5.56 and 7.62 Nato were rather plentiful. This is the first time in many months. Even 7.62x39 were rather well stocked, But prices were outrageous!! About the only good deals were on 7.92 romanian Mauser and .22cal wich I stocked on both.
