Garment salesman arrested in 3 NY merchant deaths

What are your thoughts on the choice of weapon here? Why a 10/22? Advantages/disadvantages?

My guess is, it's what he had. Pistols are relatively hard to come by in New York City. There's nothing wrong with .22 ammo, it will kill pretty effectively. Rather than exiting the body, it tends to stay inside and bounce around, making it rather popular among assassins.

Onward and upward,

I hadn't considered this. Living in Virginia, I tend to assume that anybody can pretty much buy a handgun, just perhaps with a bit more paperwork than here.

I noticed also that the guy sawed off the buttstock but didn't reduce the barrel length. That's still a lot of gun to hide and walk around with.

Hmm, I also did not know that .22LR is popular with assassins. Everything I've ever heard about the .22LR is that it's a plinking caliber and good for small varmints like groundhogs, rats, and raccoons and such, but hardly a manstopper.

The IDF used 10/22 rifles with suppressors as a "less-lethal weapon" until they found that it was, in fact, a VERY lethal weapon.

Is a pretty good perspective on the whole .22lr debate.
