I'm looking to fill my bug out bags and looking for lightweight, compact filling foods that could be eaten on the go for a "bug out" situation, or while on patrol.

I came across the "survival tabs" that come in a large plastic bottle... 12 tabs per day, with one bottle being a 15 day ration, with a 25 year shelf life. $35-40 per bottle.

Almost sounds too good to be true. Any experience with this?

I don't have first-hand experience with them, but if they're the same as these , there doesn't seem to be too much value with them. A day's "serving" is only 240 calories, the vitamins are pretty much what you would get from any multi-vitamin tablet, and 4 grams of protein isn't a lot if you're at all active. And I honestly can't see how they would be filling.

Seems to me you could be doing the same thing, only better, with a vitamin tablet and a trail mix made up of M&M's and peanuts.

Onward and upward,

That was what I was looking at. Their sales pitch is that normal food/rations are only 30-40% digested. These are 100%. They also allow your body to digest the buildup in your digestive track that is accumulating every day.

I get their science, just looking for some first hand accounts.

I like them. They used to be one of the main products sold by militia of Montana. They bottle fits in a canteen cover then can later be used as a canteen.

12 per day is a starvation ration, but they work. Skip a meal and chew on a handful while on the move, it's easy. Lightweight bugout and combat ration that can help reduce you need to make a "number 2 pit stop". I would integrate when with vitamins, energy bars, energy drinks and a cocktail of mild pain relievers and antibiotics.

Life liberty, and the pursuit of those who threaten them.
