If any one of you plans on leaving your current location when TSHTF, do you plan on taking animals with you?
I have been thinking about 2-5 German Shepherds (quantity for breeding purposes) for protection, and sheep (for wool and meat) and goats (for hide, meat and milk)...
Anyone got any ideas of their own?

I'm putting them down.
I would really feel bad about putting this one down.
She is the best cat in the history of cats.

Well, you eat the cats, and the fish, but unless the dog's an old useless loaf, or an ankle biter, it should have some use if you've properly trained it.

"I have been thinking about 2-5 German Shepherds"
how about 2 shepherds and a pair of retrievers(labs or goldens) both are good farm dogs and protectors and the labs and goldens can do birddog work if going for local game..

I was thinking enough dogs to perpetually breed them without running into crossbreeding concerns. I think the number is 13 to achieve this though, I'm not sure.

MY choice on animals to bring-

My old German shepard who is still as powerful, protective AND quiet as she was when she was younger. She can also be an attacker if told to.(she can hunt herself, dont ask me how,she just did it on her own)

My pit Freedom who is the BEST damn protector Ive ever had.("hunts too",LOVES catching birds)

My pit/doby mix Nova who is just like my pit Freedom.(Chases and attacks if asked to) the hell outta anything or anyone dumb enough to get too close.

Freedom and Nova are agression dogs in more ways then one.Hit me or people my dogs like(VERY FEW- family and fiancee) you lose an appendage. If I say the right thing you lose an appendage. If I dont respond to them if they come to me,they go on the defense and tear apart anything or anyone who comes within 25 feet of me and the only thing to stop that is a bullet(if you can get them both).BUT they do listen,if they dont know you they wont attack unless they are told. They can be told to stand down as well.As for protection, they patrol the house all night in shifts as STUPID as it sounds. One walks the house for a while then sleeps. While one sleeps the other walks, and they learned THAT on their own laugh
Both are trained to disarm, tackle, hold down, fight back, and what I choose to call the reign of hell.(sorta explains itself)

I love em and would never leave them.

Sorry to ramble, just felt like explaining WHY I would bring my pups.
