They have a 10" opening in the top. In extreme cold, condensation could be a problem. We are looking for a location that we could bury or at least earth berm the back and 2 sides. The open side would need to be painted to blend in to the surrounding vegitation.

If we really had to, we could cut the floor out of it so we had a dirt floor.

Cedar wood chips would keep most vermin out whil we weren't present.
