If friends and family couldn't prove they lived on the same road as the people they were going to help, they were told to go home or go to jail.

Local sheriff and dhs didn't approve of folks who were prepared and didn't want their "help". They got upset if you took care of things on your own without asking for their permission of help.

All in all it was a learning experience...figuring out how to avoid the checkpoints, which cops could be bs'd and which were wannabe nazi's.
