Yes the Senate CAN avoid allowing an appointment for the next 11 months.

What it cannot do is permit Obama to Appoint a Liberal Justice who WILL DESTROY the Second Amendment and maybe the First Amendment.

And if what you meant by that, is by delaying the appointment until after the Next President takes office will totally transform the Constitution, and that must not happen, then I say if the Constitution ends up being transformed, I don't give a rat's ass.

The most important thing is Obama does not make the Appointment and to hell with whatever happens to the Constitution because of the delay.
