My wife is older than born in 1983. Her Dad went to seminary. I was pretty much told that I was not going to be cremated early in my marriage.

I am wondering why a devote 79 year old Catholic would choose cremation. His son is a conservative priest. Something is being hidden, whether it is by the family or something nefarious.
