I knew a gun dealer who was originally out of California who had to go through the State department for a deal he had going in Russia shortly after the Soviet Union collapsed.

Currency exchange rates had collapsed on the Russian side and he was setting up this deal to ship a few batches of a. Cheapened version of Mossberg 500 shotguns and had to get State Department approval for the deal. The State Department could approve stuff right away or take months.

So after a few months of screwing him around, they denied him the deal. A few months after that, another guy got approved to send basically the same types of guns to the same Russian government agency. When he complained, they gave him the runaround. So then he sued, and basically found out that the other guy whose deal was approved was a Clinton crony, had made the right donations.

He said on import export, where the real money is on everything from clothes to cars, real profits are on arms dealing because it's all about who gets deals approved, and thus, they decides who gets rich doing it. Technically it's illegal, but they are really blatant about it.

Could be that was some of the Clinton foundation stuff. There were different shady groups that went after his family a lot after that. He left California and they followed him with an elaborate entrapment scheme.
