Really since 1947, but I digress.

It is a cheaper and more welcoming environment than having bases in Germany and they will be treated well, although some racial issues will get a little touchy. They are not dealing with a civil population that is programmed to be in a constant state of white guilt.

Guaranteed though, once the young Polish women get their hooks into any of those troops, lots of "Dear Suzy" letters will be going back to the states, and I'll bet those Polish girls can even straighten out no small number of queers. It will be the duty station that everybody wants.
