Will Congress really act to end the war? Honestly, I doubt it. War is profitable, and there are a lot of people in Washington who want to see it go on until the Taliban is "defeated," which seems like a pretty hopeless cause. It's true that Afghanistan may go to hell like Iraq did when we left, but that's true whether we leave now or a hundred years from now.

The Taliban have agreed in principle to deny Al Qaeda a safe haven in Afghanistan. We should call that a win, and get out.
