my team (2 man team on KISSATA principals)is planning to take the following course from a former SERE instructor in feb, here in VA. (www.mountainshepherd.com)though firearms are prohibited, we figure the knowledge and skills are valuable, esp if we are put on the run w/o weapons.

A survival course for adults that includes extreme map & compass hiking while performing escape & evasion tactics. 4-days, 3-nights (Thur. 10 am - Sun. noon); Co-ed, 18+. Training will emphasize the ability to evade while caring for basic needs. Avoiding detection while moving will be practiced. Participants should be in good physical condition. Day One will consist of hands-on training to include all seven survival priorities; Day Two will consist of map & compass, camouflage and concealment, hiding spot selection, evasion shelters (hides), and evasion movement techniques. On Day Three students will begin their escape and evasion exercise which will utilize an aggressor force and partisan network. This exercise will continue until the end of training on Day Four. Applicable exercise goals are to successfully evade capture and locate an assigned rescue point. A complete equipment list will be sent upon registration.
