This sounds like an outstanding course. I would be interested in your AAR. You know, from a complete non-tactical POV, this type of training would be outstanding for anyone that spends time in the wilderness.

When I was in Boy Scouts, our troop was organized in Navy housing. Our troop leaders were all active-duty military and every camp out we had included survival training. Too bad most troops don't get that. Even the local scouts that do their Wilderness Survival merit badge usually do it at Scout Camp and get just a basic introduction into these theories.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things: the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feelings which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worst. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight: nothing he cares more about than his own personal safety: is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions and blood of better men than himself." John Stuart Mill
