I guess I was brought up into doing things, and thinking like this. As a kid, I'd always go on crosscountry treks and I had to bring stuff with me,(just about every day I wasn't in school or chored to death).
Most times these treks were spur of the moment where if I didn't have the stuff I needed, I had to do without. Doing without sucks, always has.

Then I got old enough to start driving, even my vehilces were chocked for of survival stash.

If I ever wenton a weekend camping trip, I could most likely live a year just on stuff I brought with me, and most of what I brought was tools and materials, etc. I generally only brought enough food stuffs to last maybe near a week with rationing.
